While Charlie is always awake before I am and waiting for me to get moving in the mornings, Belle is usually still snoring on her dog bed when I get up. She’s slow moving in the mornings these days due to her old age and arthritis. And she’s a little hard of hearing too. So when I wake her up, she seems a bit grumpy.
As a result, I’ve started a new morning ritual when I go to wake her up. I sing a morning song.
I know, it’s pretty silly, but just like a teenager who is unwilling to get moving in the morning, Belle needs a little encouragement. I mean, who doesn’t like to be woken up by a cheerful morning song?
My choice of song?
While I sing it, I start to pet her and wake her up (and Charlie too – he won’t let me NOT pet him too). She grumbles a bit and starts to move. Maybe it is a nicer way to wake her up, maybe it’s not, but it’s certainly more cheerful!
